It’s a feat never before accomplished by any other show on the Great White Way. On February 11th, The Phantom Of The Opera will celebrate it’s 10,000th performance! And producers have announced that ticket sales for that day’s matinee performance will be donated to the Actors Fund, an organization which helps those who work in entertainment and the performing arts.
Phantom originally opened on Broadway in early January of 1988. Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman were the stars in those days, both having performed in London’s West End production from 1986. Today their roles in the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical are played by Hugh Panaro and Trista Moldovan.
