It was set to begin previews last night. But the curtain won’t open on Death Of A Salesman until this evening, reportedly because star Philip Seymour Hoffman has the flu. But fans won’t be disappointed for long, as the show is scheduled to hit the stage tonight.
Death of a Salesman is the classic 1949 play by legendary playwright Arthur Miller. Willy Loman (Hoffman) is an aging traveling salesman coming to terms with the emptiness of his life. He had great dreams for his oldest son, Biff (played by Andrew Garfield), a former high school football star who has not lived up to his father’s expectations. He finds himself struggling with his sons and long-suffering wife Linda (played by actress Linda Edmond), as dreams of the past collide with those that might have been. This Arthur Miller creation explores the tragic, conflicted story of the love between husband and wife, and father and sons.
As previews begin tonight, the limited engagement of Death of a Salesman is scheduled to open March 15th and run for a limited engagement through June 2nd.
